Let’s face this. The Revolution has arrived. India’s second Freedom Movement is shaping its promising future. The New India is reckoning. And the New Age Gandhi is Anna Hazare. Enough is always enough. This has been realized by the people of India. And why not. The Youth of this country wants nothing less than best, from all walks of the life. If we can see their ecstatic run in streets after Indian Cricket Team wins World Championship in style, then also we can see another matured responsible citizens of new India. Just after 2 days, the cricket frenzy Nation forgets that celebration and joins the Crusade against corruption, which is never ever seen before in Indian History…This is India Against Corruption.
After facing the Tsunami of corruption, the Civil Society of India took the charge into their hands. They have already lost the faith in this country’s politicos. Thanks to the ruling UPA Govt. led by Congress, which passed all limits of corruption and forced people to feel that corruption is general to be normal.
Civil society's battle against corruption acquired its sharpest edge ever on Tuesday as veteran social activist Anna Hazare began a fast unto death at the capital's landmark Jantar Mantar demanding greater public role in the Anti-Corruption Bill (Lokpal Bill), which has now been considered and put aside by successive regimes for the last 42 years. Since the fast started, people from all walks of life including students, senior citizens, actors, executives and activists are converging at the Jantar Mantar, the hotspot of protests in the capital, to lend support to the movement. Country joined them locally having same protest in support of Hazare.
The hatred against politicos is so high that they could not tolerate their presence among them. Some politicians like Ajit Singh, Uma Bharti and O P Chautala who wanted to make common cause with the social activist and share the dais with him were shooed away by civil society and they had to make a hasty retreat. Hazare said the indefinite hunger strike does not have a political tone. This is the voice which is getting its solidarity in each Indian.
Now what can we gain from this inertia? Will it get dissipated in wrong direction or we can achieve something productive? In this present demand The Jan Lokpal Bill seeks supremacy over all institutions in this country, including judiciary, which is the only point I think is against our democratic ethos. I am all out for the demanded Jan Lokpal, but it must not have the supremacy over judiciary. The time has proved that it’s ONLY Judiciary which is saving us from the corrupt governance and bureaucracy. Of course there are exceptions, but exceptions can’t be the basis of omission & commission.
But I’m sure our Civil Society can choose the rightest way towards a matured democracy and we all have to rally behind this. Let’s urge our friends, relatives and all our acquaints to join this new revolution, which India was waiting to happen since long. We will take India again at the top of the world.
But what the most important thing is to look inside ourselves first. Let’s practice what we all preach!
Vande Mataram!!
